  • Rosacea and facial redness
  • Acne and acne scars

How Does Photo Rejuvenation Work?

Limelight IPL delivers intense pulses of light energy into the deep layers of the skin, causing the blood vessels and collagen below the epidermis to constrict, reducing redness and wrinkles. The light is also absorbed by the pigmented cells. The pigment breaks down into smaller particles, before rising up to the surface of the skin, where then it looks like coffee grinds. Within 5-7 days, it will flake away as part of the body’s natural healing process.

The treatment may cause a slight tingling sensation when the light pulses on the skin. Cooling gel is applied to provide comfort. The entire process is non-invasive and produces excellent, consistent results. Limelight IPL photo-facial is only recommended for lighter skin types and non-tanned skin.

What Does Photo Aging Mean?

Photo aging is the result of sun exposure prematurely damaging the health and appearance of your skin. UVA and UVB causes sun spots, discoloration, wrinkles, and many other negative effects that cause skin to look aged before its time.

This happens because the ultraviolet light from the sun penetrates the outer layer of the skin, called the epidermis, and the second layer of skin, called the dermis, and damages the cells underneath. This leads to excess creation of pigment to protect your skin from the sun’s rays. The sun is the number one cause of premature skin aging, but this can be prevented by protecting your skin whenever you expose it to the sun. Protecting your skin with a high quality sunscreen also reduces your risk of skin cancer.

2D Skin Rejuvenation

2D Skin Rejuvenation completely transorms the look and feel of your skin.

The Limelight® IPL Photofacial is a broad band light-based procedure that promotes collagen rejuvenation while targeting browns and reds to correct aged skin and even tone and texture. The results is smoother and younger looking skin.

The Laser Genesis® is a laser treatment that reverses the signs of aging, improves skin texture, and reduces pore size by stimulating collagen regrowth to rejuvenate the skin’s appearance for a fuller and younger look.

These two systems work synergistically to stimulate collagen while correcting numerous blemishes and imperfections. The 2D Skin Rejuvenation is a non-ablative skin procedure that requires no downtime and promotes healthier, younger looking skin. A series of treatments is recommended for the best results and a dramatic improvement in the appearance of your skin.

Still Have Questions?

DO I REQUIRE A CONSULTATION BEFORE LIMELIGHT IPL TREATMENT?

Yes. Upon your arrival, we will begin your consultation by completing a medical history questionnaire. We will proceed to an in-depth VISIA™ complexion analysis to evaluate your skin so that we can give you the best recommendation for your skin’s health and appearance.

WHO SHOULDN’T GET LIMELIGHT PHOTOFACIAL?

While Limelight is ideal for many clients, there are a few instances where it would not be the best treatment for you. Avoid photofacials if you have any of the following:

● Use of Acutane

● Vitiligo

● Cold sores (pre-treatment with antiviral is required)

● Keloid scarring

● Increased skin pigmentation when healing

● Dark skin tones

● Dark tan

● Lupus

● Skin cancer lesions

● Extreme sensitivity to light

● Pregnancy and breast feeding

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE LIMELIGHT IPL TREATMENT?

● No tanning 4 weeks before Limelight IPL photo facial. You cannot have a tan when you receive this treatment.

● Stop the use of all Retin-A and Glycolic acid products a week before your treatment.

● If possible, come to your appointment without make-up.

● Even though there isn’t any downtime, we recommend not planning major events for two to three days after your first treatment to see how your skin reacts.

IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFUL?

You may experience a mild tingling sensation like a snap of elastic as the light goes over your skin. The sensation is slight and does not last very long. A calming and soothing balm is used right after the treatment to help relieve any discomfort.

WHAT AREAS ON THE BODY CAN BE TREATED WITH LIMELIGHT IPL?

Limelight IPL is a great treatment to be used on the face, neck, décolleté, back, arms and hands. It is the right treatment for men and women looking to get rid of sun damage and age spots, as well as skin redness, spider veins fine lines and wrinkles.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?

One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sun-damaged skin.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TREATMENT?

The process of skin rejuvenation begins. Immediately following treatment, your skin may appear slightly red and swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness. If you experience significant redness and swelling afterwards, apply cold compresses every 15 minutes. You can take Tylenol for discomfort. The brown spots will start to darken and scab, and your skin texture begins to look coarser, similar to coffee grinds. Within 5-7 days, the coarse skin will slough off and reveal a healthy, new, rejuvenated complexion. Avoid the sun or direct light for the first 2 weeks after the treatment.

WHAT IS THE AFTER CARE FOLLOWING LIMELIGHT IPL TREATMENT?

For the first week after treatment:

● Avoid hot water on the treated area.

● Keep the area hydrated and protected with 30+ SPF sunscreen.

● Stay out of direct sun, especially for the first 48 hours after treatment to minimize the risk of hyper-pigmentation in the skin. Sun exposure may lead to the production of blotchy dark pigmentation which may take several months to fade.

● Avoid skin care products such as retinol, skin scrubs and exfoliants, and AHA/BHA acid products for the first week after Limelight IPL treatment.

● Do not use saunas or steam rooms, or take hot showers, or baths.

● Avoid strenuous exercising for 24-72 hours.

● Keep clothing from rubbing the treated area.

● Do not get hairspray on the treated area.

● Resume regular skincare 7 days post-treatment.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?

With the use of proper medical grade skincare and physical sunscreen, Limelight Photo Rejuvenation lasts for several years. With time and natural aging, it is recommended to get one maintenance treatment once a year to maintain results and restore your appearance in only one treatment.
