How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
A laser beam targets the pigment in the hair follicle, and transforms into heat that is absorbed by the pigment in hair. This destroys the cells’ lining, the hair follicle specifically around the bulb, bulge, and vascular supply. Because of the laser’s precision, the skin and surrounding area is left untouched.
For most areas, 4-6 treatments are necessary to achieve the desired hair clearance. Efficacy of laser hair removal treatment may vary from patient to patient.
Aftercare Tips
Laser hair removal is a relatively fast and effective procedure. You should experience redness and light swelling, depending on the sensitivity of your skin. If you experience these symptoms, don’t worry—they’re completely normal and temporary. Some patients will experience a hive like response, although lighter hair may not respond as significantly. If your skin feels irritated after a laser hair removal treatment, apply a topical cortisone cream or a cool compress to the area. Avoid exercise, hot tubs, and hot baths for the first 24 hours after a treatment. Avoid excessive sun exposure for two weeks after the treatment, and always apply sunscreen before sun exposure.

WHY DOES IT TAKE A NUMBER OF LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENTS TO CLEAR UNWANTED HAIR?
Multiple treatments are required to achieve full hair removal. This is because hair grows in three stages:
Anagen Phase: This is the hair’s growth stage. Hair is its thickest and darkest at this point so laser treatments are most effective.
Catagen Phase: This is the transitional stage of hair growth in which hair begins to loosen from its follicle.
Telogen Phase: This is the shedding stage of hair growth in which hair falls out to make room for new growth. Therefore, only during the growing phase does the hair contain enough pigment to absorb sufficient energy to disable the hair follicle. When hair is in the dormant phase, it has little or no pigment, and it cannot absorb the laser light. At Sublime MediSpa, we disable all of the hair follicles with actively growing hair in the treatment area. A few weeks later, some of your dormant hairs will have moved into the actively growing stage, and you will come in for another treatment to disable them. As this cycle gets repeated, the amount of body hair on the treatment area will be significantly reduced.

The cost of laser hair removal varies depending on the size and complexity of the treatment area, among other factors. Our prices for treating a single area range from as little as $59 to as much as $600. WHAT DO I EXPECT DURING MY LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT?
Before beginning a laser hair removal treatment, your laser technician at Sublime MediSpa will consult with you to determine the best course of action based on your hair and skin tone evaluation, complete a medical history questionnaire, perform a patch test, and determine the fee structure according to your needs.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?
After 4-6 treatments, most people experience permanent hair reduction in the targeted areas. Your age, skin tone, hair colour, and targeted area are all considered when determining the length of time required to see permanent effects. Different areas have different density percentages of hair per square inch in the Anagen Phase (growing phase) at any given time:
● Face, Axilla, and Bikini have approximately 20-35%
● Trunk and Extremities have approximately 10-20% Please note that maintenance treatments are required to maintain results.
WHAT IS THE TREATMENT INTERVAL?
As a rule, treatments should be spread out between:
● Face/Axilla/Bikini: 4-6 weeks
● Trunk: 8-10 weeks
● Arms & Legs: 10-12 weeks, or within 7 days of when re-growth is observed
