SkinPen Microneedling

A Non-Invasive Solution For Smoother, Brighter, Rejuvenated Skin

Sublime MediSpa offers SkinPen Microneedling, a non-invasive yet highly effective treatment for naturally treating various skin concerns. At Sublime MediSpa, this treatment effectively addresses uneven skin tone, melasma, fine lines and wrinkles, as well as acne and surgical scars.

How it Works

Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, SkinPen Microneedling uses a device with several very fine, sterile needles to penetrate the skin and create controlled micro-injuries.

This activates your body’s natural healing response, resulting in smoother, more radiant skin.

By triggering the induction of Collagen and Elastin, SkinPen Microneedling evens out your skin tone, treats melasma, smoothes fine lines, and significantly reduces the appearance of acne scars and surgical scars with very little downtime! Still Have Questions?

WHAT IS SKINPEN MICRONEEDLING?

SkinPen, also known as collagen induction therapy, stimulates your skin’s natural ability to repair itself and produce new collagen and elastin for healthier, younger looking skin.

SkinPen Microneedling firms and tightens skin on décolleté, arms, and legs.

HOW DOES SKINPEN WORK?

SkinPen creates tiny micro-channels which allow for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair mechanism. This immediately triggers new collagen and elastin fibers to form, resulting in smoother, firmer, and younger looking skin. SkinPen can reverse years of sun damage, improve acne and surgical scars, reduce pore size, and enhance the overall appearance of aging skin.

Who isn't a candidate for SkinPen Microneedling?

SkinPen treatments are not suitable for patients with Keloid Scars, Scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases or cardiac abnormalities, a hemorrhagic disorder, or active bacterial or fungal infection.

It is also not suitable for:

  • Women who are pregnant or nursing
  • Patients with history of eczema, psoriasis, and other chronic skin conditions
  • Patients with history of Actinic (solar) keratosis
  • Patients with history of Herpes Simplex infections
  • Diabetics or patients with wound-healing deficiencies
  • Patients with immunosuppressive therapy
  • Patients with raised moles or warts in targeted area

How many treatments will i need

The number of Skinpen procedures required will be determined by various factors, including your individual goals and the overall health of your skin. Your provider will recommend a course of procedures (typically three to six treatments) depending on your skin needs. Treatments should be spaced out at least four to six weeks to ensure optimal results.

When will I see results after Microneedling?

Most patients will notice healthier looking skin immediately after the first treatment. However, Collagen remodeling happens over time. Therefore, you will see best results four to six weeks following your first treatment. You will see further improvements with more treatments.

What should i expect after microneedling

After your microneedling treatment, your skin will be slightly pink and puffy, almost as if you have a mild sunburn, for up to 24 hours. This will dissipate throughout the day following your procedure.

Keep in mind the following after your microneedling session:

  • Bruising, minor scabbing, minor breakouts, swelling, and/or redness may occur and will resolve within 5-7 days of treatment.
  • Do not pick, peel, rub, scrub or irritate your skin in any way while it is healing, as this may cause scarring.
  • Avoid heat, saunas, hot tubs and sweaty activity; this includes exercise of any kind.
  • Do not use an electric or manual facial brush of any kind (i.e. Clarisonic).
  • Loose powder mineral makeup may be worn, however, we recommend leaving skin clean for this time period if possible.
  • Your skin may feel tight the first 72 hours after treatment.
  • Your skin may feel mildly itchy. This is because the top layer of the skin is getting ready to release itself and shed.

Post Microneedling treatment tips

  • Do not apply anything to the skin for 5 hours after treatment. This includes make-up, SPF or products of any kind.

  • Avoiding touching the treated area.

  • DO NOT use sunscreen OR makeup for 12 hours following the procedure.

  • DO NOT use Alpha or Beta Hydroxy Acids, Retinol, Vitamin C, or products perceived as ACTIVE skincare in the first 48 hours post treatment.

  • Avoid direct sunlight exposure, sweat inducing exercise, pools, hot tubs and saunas for the first 72 hours.

  • Avoid clothing, headbands, hats, or scarves on the treated area. If clothing is to be worn over the treatment area, we recommend cotton that hasn’t been treated with fabric softeners or dryer sheets.

  • Redness and/or swelling is common and will resolve within 1-2 days. You may look and feel like you have a sunburn.

  • Fitzpatrick IV-VI pigment may darken prior to lightening.

  • Wait 6 months before starting Accutane or oral isotretinoin.

  • You will be provided with an aftercare kit with instructions on proper use.

  • Increase water intake to include at least 8 glasses.

  • Apply sun block of SPF 30+ regularly.

First 24 Hours Post-Treatment:

Pre-Treatment Instructions

Please discontinue products containing any exfoliating agents (retinoic acid, tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, astringents, etc.) at least 24 hours before treatment.

If you have a history of herpes or cold sores, we highly recommend a course of anti-viral medication pre and post-treatment. This will prevent an outbreak of cold sores if you are prone to them. Cold sores can also break out on people who are not prone to them, but who have sensitive skin. If you would like us to call in a prescription for you, please call our offices.

Avoid microneedling if you have taken Accutane within 6 months of treatment, and/or have active skin infections, acne breakouts, or open lesions in the treatment area.

Discontinue autoimmune therapies at least 24 hours prior to Skinpen microneedling.
